Happy Father's Day!

Here are a few pics of Harper's first baseball game... I can't believe we were bundled up in hats, and sweaters in the middle of June!!!

We had a great Father's Day weekend! And, Harper had a couple of firsts... On Saturday we woke up bright and early (well, Harper didn't... she decided to sleep in until 9am) packed up the car and headed out to the Washington Brewer's Festival at St. Edwards Park. Rather than pay the hefty $15 to park, we decided to take one of their free shuttles from a local park and ride. The shuttle happened to be a school bus! So, we loaded ourselves onto the bus with all of our gear (camp chairs, BOB stroller, and two backpacks full of baby gear, food and extra clothing since it was dreary and cold out) and into the seats (never realized how small those seats really are). Harper of course thought it was so cool to be sitting on my lap in a moving vehicle rather than be strapped into her carseat. So, she was a happy camper. The rest of the day we spent milling around the park, tasting great brews and hanging out with great friends! Harper hung out in her Ergo or stroller and had a good time dancing to the music.

Sunday, we again work up early while little miss decided to sleep in again until 9am (what is with this kid? I wish she would do this every weekend!!) and I got up and made waffles with homemade whip cream and fresh strawberries. My parents came over Sat night to stay the night with us so that they could go with us to the Mariner's game. So after a yummy Father's day breakfast, we packed up our gear and headed downtown for a very cold and rainy baseball game. It was Harper's first official baseball game and while I don't really think she ever clued into what was going on down below on the field, she took every opportunity to dance to the great music that they played in between plays! She thought it was great! And, finally, in the bottom of the 8th inning, decided she had seen enough and fell fast asleep! It was a great day and I didn't realize that my dad hadn't been to a game since I was a freshman in high school almost 20 years ago! (wow, that makes me feel old!!). We ended the day with dinner at our house with my parent's and Hugh's dad. It was a great weekend!!!

Weekend Woes...

What a weekend! I think the tooth fairy might finally be on her way to visit miss Harper... she still only has 4 teeth (two on top and two on bottom) at 14 months old. The last time a tooth appeared was when she was 8 months old. So, I know they are somewhere in there.... regardless, if it is in fact what is making my dear baby so grumpy, then come on out teeth!!! Not to mention the lovely explosive diapers we have been changing.... and the baths three times a day to match the diapers! No fun!! Anyway, hopefully we get through this "stage" and can move on. Poor little girl!

Take a picture, it will last longer!

And, in this case I certainly hope it does!!!! While walking to work from my bus this morning I spotted something that has been missing for quite a while here in Seattle... in fact, some may even call it an urban legend, a myth or even something on the verge of extinction.... Well, I captured it, on camera!!! So I am hoping it will stick around a while....

Yes, folks.... it is the SUN!!!

Blue skies....

Puffy white clouds....

And, in case you missed it the first time, the SUN, again!!!

14 Months Young!

I forgot to mention in my last post that today marks Harper's 14th month here with us, and outside of my belly! Happy 14 month birthday Harper Mary!!

Monday, Monday...

We'll, I don't know about all of you, but I could have used another weekend day. This morning came far to fast and back to work I go! Harper is in a Mama-mode right now and ONLY wants me! I guess I should feel so special to be the chosen one, but it is reminding me of the early months of doing everything one-handed. I constantly have a baby on my hip!!! And, as far as Daddy is concerned... well, he might as well be a total stranger these days because that is the kind of receptiveness he gets from her. This morning was a perfect case and point.... Hugh woke Harper up to get her ready for Childcare as he always does since I leave for work earlier than he does. She was HAPPY, HAPPY girl until she saw me. Then all she wanted was for me to pick her up! No longer was the yummy banana she was eating, enticing.... now all she wanted was MEEE! So, once again, I got to leave the house with a screaming, upset baby! Makes my heart break and makes Hugh's morning challenging too...

On a lighter note... the fence we have been meaning to build since we bought our house 3 years ago is 99.9% finished!! Hugh and my dad have been working weekends and evenings for the last month trying to complete this project and the end is in sight! YAY!!

Here are the dogs enjoying their new freedom!!!:

Above is the side that still needs to have the posted sawed off and capped and below is what it all will look like when it is done:

And, here is little Harper when Daddy and Grandpa were starting the whole process! She could have stood here all day long!

Take Two!

Ok, so I have been meaning to get in here to restart this whole blog thing. I read all of my friends' blogs and always think about how fun it is to keep up on their lives as well as how witty they are! Not that my life is all that interesting, and I would certainly not call myself a witty person, but this can at least be a place that I post regular updates of what is going on in our life... especially with Harper changing and growing so quickly!!

So, this is TAKE TWO!! We will see how it goes and I am going to try desperately hard to get Hugh to write in this thing too!

As of where we are today.... Harper is almost 14 months old!! I cannot even begin to wonder where this last year and two months has gone! Yes, what they say is so true, it all goes by so fast! They do "grow up right before your eyes"! My little peanut keeps us entertained and cracks herself up too! I love her little laugh! Her recent favorite activity is playing with the dogs! They can get her to giggle like none other! She will walk right up to them to "snuggle" and get a few licks from them. And, it cracks her up as well as her dad and me! I'll try to keep updating the pictures along the way too...
